Mission Statement of Wildlife and Wildlands Conservation

The aims of the BYU Wildlife and Wildlands program are to provide students with experiences that:

  • are spiritually strengthening
  • broaden the intellect
  • build character
  • lead to lifelong learning and service

Addressing wildlife and wildlands issues with sound scientific principles is at the core of our teaching and research.  As scientists and students with an LDS perspective, we embrace the concept that the earth and its resources are for the benefit and use of man, and they need to be carefully managed as part of our stewardship.

For it is expedient that I, the Lord,
should make every man accountable, as a steward over earthly blessings,
which I have made and prepared for my creatures
